SAFE SPACE
Welcome! Safe Space was a social practice artwork which ran from 3pm on Sunday, November 19th until 3pm Monday, November 20th and provided us with an opportunity to learn, grieve and heal together.
Participants were invited to carefully enter the sacred triangle, one at a time, to absorb or exchange revelations about God, death, grief, and rebirth with me, Barbara Syrenka and/or to contribute to the memorial dedicated in loving memory to my late husband, Dawid Fedorowicz, who lost his battle with opioid use disorder one year ago, and to all those who have died from opioid use disorder. Please feel free to contribute to the memorial by adding your own photos, mementos, cards, flowers, or whatever else you feel will appropriately honor your loved one(s).
This project would not be possible without the incredible assistance of my dear friends Jorge Merced Cruz, Angel Martinez and Konrad Radomski as well as my loving partner Bartosz Syrek, whose love continues to fill the massive hole Dawid’s death carved out in my heart.
